Born in Puerto Rico in 1917, Manuel Velázquez became one of the most respected guitar makers of the 20th century. He moved to New York City, where he established his workshop and built guitars that attracted the attention of some of the world's leading musicians, including Andrés Segovia. NAMM describes Velázquez as one of the greatest guitar luthiers of the last century.

This 1989 example features a spruce soundboard with Indian rosewood back and sides, offering the combination of clarity, warmth, projection, and balance associated with a fine traditional classical guitar.

With a 650mm scale length and 52mm nut width, the guitar has a comfortable and familiar playing feel. The low actionmakes it particularly easy to play, with excellent response and effortless playability.
